Humility!!
Daniel 4: 28-37 READ IT
King Nebuchadnezzar is the example of a man who had greatness, power, and wealth. But, he had built it on the proverbial "sinking sand." He took credit for all he had. He ignored the fact that there is a Creator "from whom all blessings flow." Amazingly, even after seeing the hand of God in the fiery furnace, even after having Daniel interpret the King's dream about the tree, Nebuchadnezzar still refused to humble himself before God and recognize God as Lord and Most High over all creation. Nebuchadnezzar still wanted to take pride in his "personal" accomplishments.
So, God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to involuntarily "Be Still" and ultimately come to the realization that God is over "ALL" including him. It took seven years. It is interesting that at the end of seven years, after Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged God, the kingdom still existed, he was returned to power, and he flourished even more. (Job?)
This brings to mind how we see ungodly people who seem to be very successful. Even when their wealth and power is not attained the proper way. Yet God allows it. As Christians we know that such will ultimately fail in this life or in eternity. We should not seek to join in such endeavors.
As we go through life, as we see success involving relationships, wealth, comfort, power .... let us always keep in mind that all of our blessings come from God, God working in us, and God supplying us with the talent, health, intelligence, and energy needed to accomplish what God has in store for us. We don't want to have to come under the DISCIPLINE of our Heavenly Father as He corrects us. Also, we should draw upon our past experiences with our God, learn from our failures, and learn from our past successes.
He is still there. "BE STILL" because you know you should be. Not because He has to remind you ... again.
IN A FRENZIE? BE STILL FOR A TIME.
IN A FRENZIE? BE STILL FOR A TIME.
Humility & Faith Can Produce "Stillness" which leads to Peace & Joy
Humility & Faith Can Produce "Stillness" which leads to Peace & Joy
Psalm 104:6-9
You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. The mountains rose; the valleys sank down to the place which You established for them.
You set a boundary that they may not pass over, so that they will not return to cover the earth.
Psalm 17:7-8
Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings. …
Hide me now,
Under Your wings …
Cover me,
Within Your mighty hand.
When the oceans rise and thunders roar,
I will soar with you above the storm.
Father, You are King over the flood …
I will be still and know You are God.
Find rest my soul,
In Christ alone.
Know His power …
In quietness and trust
When the oceans rise and thunders roar,
I will soar with you above the storm.
Father, You are King over the flood…
I will be still and know You are God.
Your Joy Oh lord
will be my strength,
Renouncing fear
We stand in your glorious grace.
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God.
Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
(Not still - become still)
Mark 4:39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
"The God of Jacob is our refuge." Psalm 46:1-7
Know that I am God. By seeing and acknowledge, be aware. We know that He is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (present everywhere), omnipotent (all-powerful), holy, sovereign, faithful, infinite, and good. Acknowledging God implies that we can trust Him and surrender to His plan because we understand who He is.
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things . . . so that no one may boast before Him." 1 Corinthians 1:27-29
'The older will serve the younger.' Just as it is written: 'Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.' " Romans 9: 10-13)
Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you. John 15:16
Isaiah 45:12
We may KNOW or we may be IGNORANT.
Can we “POSSESS” Faith & Not Exercise it?
“Placing Our Faith” produces benefits.
“Not Exercising Faith” produces loss.
